The American singer/songwriter Taylor John Williams began releasing independent music shortly after his high school graduation in the Pacific Northwest, then enjoying a national audience thanks to his well-received run on The Voice's seventh season in 2014. He was born in Eugene, Oregon, on June 6, 1991, and established himself as an up-and-coming musician while still a teen. Proverbial Elephant, his independent debut EP, was released digitally in 2009. Five years later, he joined the cast of the The Voice, earning his spot as one of the show's contestants with live performances of Kanye West's "Heartless," Dolly Parton's "Jolene," and Tears For Fears' "Mad World." A crowd favorite, Taylor John Williams ultimately finished The Voice's seventh season in fifth place, with country singer Craig Wayne Boyd emerging as the year's winner. Modeling his music after the folk-rock and indie-pop sounds of the artists he often covered on the show, Taylor John Williams released the second EP of his career, Song of a Deadman, in 2015. A third EP, Hiraeth, followed in 2016, with the full-length El Dorado appearing in 2017. He returned in 2023 with a new single, "The Mates of Soul," which reached Number 62 on the iTunes chart early that year.
