Khali

Khali, whose real name is Khalil Lakbir, is a French-Moroccan rapper, singer and producer, born on November 20, 1999 in Lyon. He spent part of his childhood in Vénissieux before moving to Cenon, near Bordeaux. He began his musical career as a beatmaker in 2017, releasing his instrumentals on SoundCloud, before laying down his vocals on his own productions from 2018. In June 2019, Khali released his debut EP Palmer Wild Story, followed in 2020 by the EP Le Tournesol, which helped him attract his first audience. In 2021, he releases his debut album Laïla, self-produced with Niels, a project hailed for its introspective, melodic atmosphere. In 2022, he followed this up with the EPs 23- and PLM, consolidating his artistic universe. His second album, Il me ressemble pas non plus, was released in 2023, confirming his positioning in an avant-garde aesthetic. Khali draws his inspiration from the American scene, notably Playboi Carti and Lil Uzi Vert, and distinguishes himself through the use of the baby voice, a distinctive vocal signature that brings an airy dimension to his rap.
