Biography

Born Oluwafisayo Isa on 19 September 2001 in Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria, Darkoo is a British rapper known for her unique blend of Afrobeat, dancehall, and trap influences. One of Darkoo's breakthrough moments came with her hit single "Gangsta," released in 2019. The track, featuring One Acen, showcased her ability to fuse Afrobeat rhythms with rap flows, garnering millions of streams and solidifying her presence on the UK scene, going to number 22 in 2020. The song's success catapulted Darkoo into the spotlight, and she went on to build on her momentum with subsequent releases, each displaying her versatility and ability to experiment with different musical genres. Her collaborations with prominent artists and producers further underscore her growing influence and appeal within the global music community, including the 2020 track "Juicy" featuring Hardy Caprio, which went to number 62 in the UK. At the MOBO Awards that year, she was nominated for Best Female Act and Best Newcomer and "Gangsta" was nominated for Song of the Year. She experienced her first taste of chart-topping fame in 2021 with the remix of "Body," originally performed by Russ Millions and Tion Wayne. She released her debut EP, 2 In 1, in July 2021 with "There She Goes (Jack Sparrow)" featuring Mayorkun. 2024 saw the release of "Favorite Girl" featuring Dess Dior. She also appeared on the 2024 single with Efosa and Sparbz, "MHMM."
