This week I'm reading from Paul Hamden and Syann's book 'A Primer of the Zeta Race'So, you think you’re an alien or a hybrid?I never did. This week I am talking to Preston Dennett and Dolly Safran about their book 'Symmetry A True UFO Adventure'.In January 1973, fourteen-year-old Dolly Safran gazed out the window of her home near the Florida Everglades. Without warning, a UFO dropped from the sky and hovered in her backyard. To her shock, Dolly could see thin, gray-skinned figures with large dark eyes staring back at her. This week I'm talking about the 1952 Washington DC UFO FlapIn July 1952, the skies over Washington D.C. became the focus of one of the most extraordinary UFO episodes in American history. Over two separate weekends, unidentified targets appeared on radar around the nation’s capital, experienced air traffic controllers reported unusual movements, airline pilots described strange lights, and United States Air Force fighters were sent into the area in an attempt to find out what was happening.The location alone made the case impossible to ignore. These were not reports from a remote area or isolated countryside. The activity was taking place close to the political and military centre of the United States, with radar contacts appearing near some of the most sensitive airspace in the country. At the height of the Cold War, any unknown object moving around Washington had the potential to become a serious national security concern.What makes the case particularly interesting is the combination of radar observations and visual reports. Controllers using separate radar systems reported unusual targets, while pilots and military personnel also described lights behaving in unexpected ways. On more than one occasion, fighter aircraft were directed towards the unknown contacts, yet no definite interception was achieved.The events quickly became front-page news and placed the United States Air Force under considerable pressure to explain what had happened. Officials eventually pointed towards unusual atmospheric conditions, including temperature inversions, as a possible explanation for some of the radar returns. Critics of that explanation have argued that it does not fully account for all the visual sightings or the apparent agreement between some of the radar contacts and what witnesses reported seeing in the sky.This episode looks closely at what actually happened during those two weekends in July 1952, the response from radar operators and military pilots, and the official attempts to explain the activity afterwards.More than seventy years later, the Washington D.C. UFO Flap remains one of the best-known cases from the early years of the modern UFO era. The Falcon Lake Incident remains one of the most discussed UFO cases in Canadian history, not simply because of what Stefan Michalak said he saw, but because of the unusual physical evidence and official attention that followed.In this episode, I take a closer look at the wider significance of the case and why it continues to stand apart from many other reports from the 1960s. Michalak was not describing a distant light or a brief object in the sky. His account involved a close-range encounter, physical injury, damaged clothing, a reported landing site, and later investigation by Canadian authorities.The case has remained important to UFO researchers because several different strands of evidence came together around a single event. There were Michalak’s own detailed descriptions, the marks on his body, the condition of his clothing, the reported effects at the site, and the later discovery of material that attracted further attention. At the same time, the object itself was never conclusively identified.I also look at Michalak as a witness and at the way his background influenced how he interpreted the experience. Rather than immediately describing the object as extraterrestrial, he initially tried to understand it as a machine and considered the possibility that it was some form of experimental aircraft. That practical response has become an important part of how the case is remembered.Falcon Lake is a fascinating example of why some UFO reports survive long after the original headlines have faded. In this episode I'm talking to Isabelle Boivin, a former Canadian Department of National Defence professional who spent 20 years working within the organisation, including 13 years repairing warships and submarines for the Royal Canadian Navy.Alongside that very practical and technical career, Isabelle was having experiences that would eventually challenge everything she believed about reality. This episode I am talking about The Allagash UFO AbductionIn August 1976, four young men travelled deep into the wilderness of northern Maine for a canoeing and fishing trip. Twin brothers Jack and Jim Weiner, along with Charlie Foltz and Chuck Rak, expected several quiet days surrounded by forest and remote lakes. Instead, their journey would become one of the best-known multiple-witness UFO cases in American history.While night fishing on Eagle Lake, the four men noticed a large, brightly lit object hovering above the trees. When Charlie Foltz flashed his torch towards it, the object appeared to respond. It moved towards their canoe as a brilliant beam of light swept across the lake. The men began paddling rapidly back towards shore, but their memories of what happened next became strangely incomplete.Their next clear recollection placed them much closer to the campsite. The large fire they had left burning had almost completely died away, suggesting that more time may have passed than they could account for.Years later, disturbing dreams and unexplained memories led to a detailed investigation by UFO researcher Raymond E. This week I'm talking to Terry Scalia about her experience of alien abduction. This week I'm reading from Philip Mantle's book 'UFO reflections' Philip Mantle is one of the UK’s best known UFO researchers. He entered into UFO research and investigation in 1980 when he joined the Yorkshire UFO Society (YUFOS) which had its HQ in the city of Leeds, West Yorkshire, just a few miles from where he lived. In later years he would go on to join the British UFO Research Association (BUFORA) and the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). In 2015 he founded Flying Disk Press, a one man book publishing endeavour which has now published over 30 books. During his time as an active UFO researcher and investigator Mantle has been involved with a wide variety of UFO cases including UFOs caught on camera, alien abductions, a wide variety of UFO sightings, hoaxes and assisting in the analysis of debris from an alleged UFO crash. Most of his investigations have of course been in the UK but he has also been involved in UFO cases from Hungary, Australia, Russia, China and Cyprus. He is probably best known for his long running investigation into the Alien Autopsy Film hoax and the Pascagoula, Mississippi, alien abduction. He is the author of a number of books some of which have been published in a variety of languages. This book sees the author delve into many of the cases he has been involved with and most of them in book form for the first time. This week I'm talking to Philip Mantle about his book 'UFO reflections' Philip Mantle is one of the UK’s best known UFO researchers. He entered into UFO research and investigation in 1980 when he joined the Yorkshire UFO Society (YUFOS) which had its HQ in the city of Leeds, West Yorkshire, just a few miles from where he lived. In later years he would go on to join the British UFO Research Association (BUFORA) and the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). In 2015 he founded Flying Disk Press, a one man book publishing endeavour which has now published over 30 books. During his time as an active UFO researcher and investigator Mantle has been involved with a wide variety of UFO cases including UFOs caught on camera, alien abductions, a wide variety of UFO sightings, hoaxes and assisting in the analysis of debris from an alleged UFO crash. Most of his investigations have of course been in the UK but he has also been involved in UFO cases from Hungary, Australia, Russia, China and Cyprus. He is probably best known for his long running investigation into the Alien Autopsy Film hoax and the Pascagoula, Mississippi, alien abduction. He is the author of a number of books some of which have been published in a variety of languages. In this episode Chris Rutkowski is talking about his book 'Canada's UFOs: Declassified'. Since 1947, the reality of UFOs has been hotly debated by enthusiasts, zealots, debunkers, and scientists. Skeptics insist that people who report UFOs are either mistaken or liars, whereas many true believers are convinced that aliens are visiting Earth and interacting with its inhabitants. Recent years have seen a tonal shift in mainstream media coverage of UFOs following surprise admissions by the US Pentagon that it continues to investigate dramatic sighting reports from its personnel.
