Kelly Cates presents Super Sunday from Anfield alongside Jamie Redknapp, Jamie Carragher and Izzy Christiansen who watched Arne Slot’s first home match as Liverpool manager in their 2-0 win against Brentford. Goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah secured the points for the hosts in what was a comfortable victory and Redknapp says it’s been a great start for the new boss but the transition from Jurgen Klopp to Arne Slot will take time and needs patience. There is also reaction from captain Virgil van Dijk who says he is calm about his future despite entering the final year of his contract. Arne Slot gives his postmatch thoughts and praised the defensive performance and felt Brentford could not cope with Liverpool as the game progressed. Thomas Frank also conceded that Liverpool were the better team and deserved the win.There was controversy in the earlier game between Bournemouth and Newcastle as Dango Ouattara’s injury-time winner was ruled out for handball and Carra labeled the decision as ‘terrible’ saying that there is no way the VAR can factually determine it comes off Ouattara’s arm.

David Jones presents the first Saturday Night Football of the 2024/25 season from the London Stadium alongside Izzy Christiansen and Jamie Redknapp, who watched West Ham host Aston Villa. The Hammers tried to sign Villa forward Jhon Duran earlier in the transfer window, and he came off the bench to score the visitors’ winner in their 2-1 victory. Christiansen and Redknapp praised the forward for his impact and believe he has underlined his importance to Unai Emery ahead of a busy calendar that includes their Champions League campaign.
