Welcome back, sisters and sinners! This week, Dee and Isla take a dark and winding stroll down the towpaths of 1960s London to unpick the grim mystery of Jack the Stripper — no, not a misbehaving hen party guest, but the nickname for one of Britain’s most elusive serial killers.Between 1959 and 1965, eight women, all sex workers, were found murdered and dumped near the Thames. All were undressed. All were petite. All were preyed upon in an era when London was loosening up morally… but still tightening the noose on working-class women. As always, we take you through the crimes, the investigation, and the infuriating dead ends. including the time a nightclub caretaker just wandered into the police station and confessed. (He changed his mind. As you do.)Also, brace yourselves — Dee drops her most controversial opinion yet: soya milk is the worst of all milk alternatives. We’ll give you a moment to recover.Join The Ink-Quisition!Do you have a tattoo you'd like us to lovingly judge at the end of an episode? What do you get when you cross a morgue attendant with a Satanist, a bad artist, and a 90s French internet hookup? A cannibal with a YouTube following, apparently.Join Dee and Isla as we plunge fang-first into the gore-splattered legacy of Nicolas Claux, the Vampire of Paris, a convicted murderer, confessed cannibal, corpse desecrator, and, somehow, international curator. It all started with a seemingly innocent visit to a Serial Killer Exhibition in London, until one donor’s name kept creeping up like a resurrected corpse.Trigger warnings galore: corpses, cannibalism, blood-drinking, grave desecration, and very, very bad art. Welcome to Season 5 — and say hello to your new co-host Isla from Criminally Good Books in York! In this jam-packed first episode, Dee and Isla go full-blown true crime + emotional carnage as they cover the terrifying 1999 bombing spree that shook London to its core. But first, a few very important announcements:🧡 Emma has stepped back from co-hosting (she’s still a Switchblade Sister for life and our legal consultant on speed dial) 📚 Isla from Criminally Good Books has officially joined the team, and frankly, it’s about time 🎄 Yes, Isla still has Christmas decorations up in June 🐷 Dee may or may not have tattooed a Guinea pig-adjacent animal from South Africa on her bodyWe dive into the horrifying attacks carried out by neo-Nazi David Copeland, who tried to start a race war using nail bombs left in Brixton, Brick Lane, and Soho, targeting Black communities, Bangladeshi Londoners, and the LGBTQ+ community in rapid succession. It’s grim, it’s infuriating, and it’s an important reminder of how easily hate spreads if left unchecked.🔪 Bonus Segment: The Ink-Quisition We judge the Sugarbabes’ autographs, tattooed permanently on a heavy metal musician’s body. Trigger Warnings: Bombings, neo-Nazism, racism, homophobia, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and strong language (sorry Isla’s mum).📸 Check our socials for visuals, tattoos, and more from the episode 🌈 No TERFs, no fascists — just feminist chaos and found family 💌 Submit your tattoo for The Ink-Quisition herehttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfAybOOizFDxMOcMfmq2Ct4dUHjFrl_NWgJ9hVPZYs7CMkZsQ/viewform

In this special bonus episode of the Switchblade Sisters Social Club, co-hosts Dee and Emma address Emma's departure from the podcast. As Emma takes a step back, they introduce Isla of Criminally Good Books, the new co-host for Season 5. But before Emma chips off, we discuss our visit to the Moholoholo Animal Rehab Center, their charitable donation, and their encounter with the infamous honey badger, Stoffel. We look into Stoffel's clever and relentless escapades, his history as an escape artist, and the challenges of containing such a determined animal.

A brand-new episode of Switchblade Sisters Social Club just dropped, and this one is extra twisted. This week, Dee and Emma are diving into the case of Dennis Rader, aka BTK – the serial killer whose ego was as big as his incompetence. If you’ve ever wondered how NOT to get away with murder (or how a family man can have a secret life that is way too secret), this one’s for you.And because we can’t just talk about horrifying crimes, we’re also launching something fun for Season 5—a brand-new end segment called The Ink-Quisition! That’s right: you send in your tattoos, and we judge them mercilessly (or admire them, if you happen to have good taste). Whether it’s a regrettable ex’s name, a misspelled quote, or an absolute masterpiece, we want to see it. Send your ink our way, and we’ll give it the respect (or roast) it deserves.

Get ready for a wild ride as Dee and Emma dig into the chaotic case of Raoul Moat, the bodybuilder turned wannabe Rambo who terrorised northern England in the summer of 2010. This week, Dee and Emma unwrap the twisted tale of Christiana Edmunds, Brighton’s most infamous chocolate cream poisoner. (Spoiler: Definitely the latter.) Expect deep dives into Victorian-era poison panic and healthcare advice (sexual massage, anyone?!). Also, brace yourself for an uncontrollable giggling fit as Emma shares her absolute favourite joke. It’s not dirty, but it’s somehow even funnier because of that.  🔪🍫 Listen now! 🍫🔪

We’re back this week with an episode that explores a case as infamous as the motorway it’s named after. Yes, we’re talking about the M25 Rapist. Hope you’re all doing well, keeping it cool, and staying far away from places that require you to request permission to go to the bathroom from 11 people. Yep, you read that right – welcome to this week’s episode on the Elan School, a so-called "therapeutic" boarding school that could have doubled as the training ground for your nightmares. Picture this: the isolated woods of Maine, where trees outnumber people, and “rehabilitation” was synonymous with psychological warfare. The Elan School promised troubled teens a second chance, but its methods were straight out of a dystopian novel – think forced labour, humiliation, and bizarre punishments that would make even the most hardcore reality TV producer blush. Ever heard of “The Ring”? It’s not just a movie. At Elan, students were actually pitted against each other in what can only be described as "Fight Club for Teens."  The school operated in total secrecy for decades, and it only closed after the digital age finally gave former students a voice. Let’s look at the twisted tale of Rurik Jutting, a high-flying banker with a dark secret. Spoiler alert: This guy’s career pivot took "dramatic life change" to a whole new level, and not in a "follow your passion" kind of way.  We’ll take you through the shocking crimes, the trial that rocked Hong Kong, and explore what happens when a life of privilege crashes headfirst into a spiral of madness.  But after all that grimness, we wrap things up with what you’ve really been waiting for—YOUR dating advice! In this episode, Dee takes Emma on a wild ride through the infamous Broadmoor Prison, the UK's most notorious high-security psychiatric hospital. But don’t worry, we manage to sneak in a lot of laughs between the dark history lessons. Here’s a taste of what’s coming up: From Lunatics to Rhubarb: Society's view of mental health has changed so much over time, from locking people away forever to, uh, prescribing rhubarb. Rhubarb! Can it cure a broken mind? Spoiler: probably not. Idiots vs. Imbeciles: Dee attempts to explain the very important distinction between an idiot and an imbecile, leaving Emma wondering if she's accidentally dated both. (Haven’t we all?) Spoon-fed Nightmare Fuel: Someone at Broadmoor once ate a brain. With a spoon. Bon appétit? Emma's still recovering from this revelation, and Dee's taking notes in case they run out of snack ideas at their next Christmas Crimes event (10th & 11th December at Brewery Market, FYI. More info to follow). The Jimmy Savile, Yorkshire Ripper & Frank Bruno Triangle: What do these three have in common besides being questionable dinner guests?  Broadmoor for Sale?!: It’s official – Broadmoor is up for sale! Who’s buying? Emma suggests it could make a trendy Airbnb if you don’t mind the ghost of Jack the Ripper roaming the halls. Speaking of which, did he end up there? Tune in for our conspiracy theory of the week! Why Won’t You Date Us?!: As always, we’re closing out with more applications to date us (the romantic kind, not the forensic kind). Why are they so few and far between? Is it because we talk too much about brains and murder? Sigh Buckle up – this episode is a twisted mix of crime, history, and… well, rhubarb!

You know those moments when you think "I could never commit a crime—it's too much work?" Well, Kate Webster, aka the Richmond Murderess, clearly had plenty of time on her hands and absolutely zero chill.  This 19th-century true crime story involves murder, stolen identities, and Sir David Attenborough. When we say her crime was over the top, we mean the police didn’t even know where to start—until she started strutting around in her victim's clothes like she was on a 1879 catwalk. Bold? Yes. Ridiculous? Also, yes. Why did she do it? Did anyone actually buy her human lard? And honestly, where did she get all that nerve? To ease new co-host Emma Farrington into her new role as Switchblade Sister from another Mister, we made this lil bonus episode where I quiz her on serial killer trivia. Useful for building up that pub quiz knowledge bank, and also you can watch us slowly descend into madness as we get more and more drunk on Rubis chocolate wine. We of course mention our one true love, Colin Sutton (cringing at the time I introduced myself to his son as his next stepmum), and a shout out to Steve Gaskin. What is it about us and former Murder Detectives? We can’t get enough of them! And we ask ourselves ‘What the fuck happened in Idaho?!’ Also introducing our new segment to end each episode on, to lighten the mood, although it might become more grim than the true crime cases we cover.
