Pedro Subercaseaux García de la Huerta, known by his stage name Pedropiedra, is a Chilean musician and composer born on April 17, 1978, in Santiago. He is the son of painter Juan Subercaseaux Sommerhoff and Paula García de la Huerta Echaurren. Influenced by artists like The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Los Prisioneros, and Soda Stereo, he began playing guitar and drums at a young age. In 2002, Pedro formed the electronic duo Hermanos Brothers with Vicente Sanfuentes. They won the MTV award for Best Independent Artist in 2003. He also played in bands such as CHC and Yaia before embarking on a solo career. His studio debut, Pedropiedra, was released in March 2009, featuring the hit single "Inteligencia Dormida." Pedropiedra's sophomore effort, Cripta y Vida, came out in 2011, consolidating his presence in the Chilean independent music scene. His third album, Emanuel (2013), included the award-winning single "Pasajero." In 2016, he released Ocho, followed by Aló! in 2020, which featured the single "Amar en Silencio." In addition to his solo work, Pedropiedra co-founded the band Pillanes in 2018 with members from Chancho en Piedra and Los Bunkers, releasing a self-titled album. He has also collaborated with various artists, including Mon Laferte, and contributed to the soundtrack of films by Sebastián Silva.
