Biografía

Born Tate Rosner McRae in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on July 1, 2003, the Canadian singer, songwriter, and dancer known as Tate McRae took up dancing aged 6 and at 11 began training as a ballet dancer at the School of Alberta Ballet. Notching up wins and victories as a professional dancer at competitions and galas, including a gig dancing on Justin Bieber's 'Purpose' world tour in June 2016, her career as a dancer skyrocketed following an appearance as the first Canadian finalist on the US reality TV show So You Think You Can Dance. In 2017, Tate McRae made the crossover to music with her Create With Tate video series, presenting original material that she had written in her bedroom. One song in particular, "One Day"—which she had penned at age 14—proved popular enough for Tate McRae to self-release the track in 2017 before the stripped-back piano ballad later struck gold as an official release. Following her signing to RCA Records in 2019, Tate McRae released an EP of full-bodied pop, All the Things I Never Said, in January 2020, with the EP's lead single, "Tear Myself Apart" co-written by Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell. A streaming triumph, the EP spawned well-received singles in "All My Friends Are Fake" and "Stupid," which peaked at Number 60 on the Canadian Hot 100. In 2021, Tate McRae unveiled her second EP, Too Young to Be Sad, with heartbreak juggernaut "You Broke Me First," which became her breakthrough single, released as the EP's lead single in April 2020. Also in 2021, she scored another hit in "You" with Regard and Troye Sivan and cracked the Top 10 of Billboard’s Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart with “Feel Like S**t,” the first single from her 2022 studio debut. i used to think i could fly, her genre-spanning debut LP, arrived in May that year and reached the top 10 in several countries, including Canada and the UK, also going to number thirteen on the US Billboard 200.
