Born Christophe Le Friant in Paris, France on May 10, 1969, the producer, DJ, and remixer is better known by his stage name Bob Sinclar. Influenced by jazz and hip-hop music, he began DJing in the 1980s under the name Chris the French Kiss while creating music projects such as Reminiscence Quartet and The Mighty Bop. In 1998, he began working under the name Bob Sinclar – the name of the main character in the 1973 film Le Magnifique – and dived headfirst into the house music scene. Bob Sinclar became a pioneer of French house with the release of his debut album, Paradise, in 1998. The album was a hit in both France (Number 27) and the UK (Number 88) and helped usher in the French house movement. His next two albums – Champs Elysées (2000) and III (2003) – achieved similar chart success to his debut but his fourth album, Western Dream (2006), was his commercial breakthrough. An international hit, the album charted in the UK, France, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Sweden, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and several other countries. Western Dream featured the hit singles “Love Generation” (featuring Gary Pine), “World, Hold On (Children of the Sky)” (featuring Steve Edwards), and “Rock This Party (Everybody Dance Now)” (with Cutee B, Dollarman, Big Ali, and Makedah). His 2007 remix album Soundz of Freedom was equally successful as was his 2009 album Born in 69. The albums Disco Crash (2012) and Paris by Night (2013) didn’t fare as well commercially although he had become an in-demand producer and remixer. Apart from his seven studio albums, Bob Sinclar has also released eight compilations and over 40 singles, more than 25 of which reached the singles chart in France. He’s also remixed singles by Madonna, Mika, Rihanna, Cerrone, The Wanted, and many others.
