Claudio Ruccolo, who goes by the name Claudio Capéo (born on January 10, 1985), is a French pop singer who learned to play the accordion as a child and began performing as a teenager, playing everything from metal to African jazz. After a stint working as a carpenter and decorator, he independently released the albums El Vagabond (2010), Miss Mondo (2012) and the EP Mr. Jack in 2015. Following an appearance at the 2013 Printemps de Bourges festival, Ruccolo auditioned for and was selected to participate on the 5th season of the television talent show The Voice: La Plus Belle Voix. There, he joined Florent Pagny’s team and was eliminated against Laurent-Pierre Lecordier after a rendition of Jacques Brel’s “Mathilde.” Not deterred by his premature exit from the show, Ruccolo made a triumphant comeback in 2016 as the album Claudio Capéo topped France's albums chart and the single “Tant que rien ne m'arrête” reached Number 6. Further singles “Un homme debout” also went to Number 6 on the French Singles Chart, while “Ça va ça va” and “Riche” peaked at Number 27. Preceded by the singles “Que Dieu me pardonne” with Kendji Girac and “Ta main,” fourth album Tant Que Rien Ne M'Arrête arrived in 2018 and also landed at Number 6 in France, obtaining platinum certification after selling over 100,000 copies. Two years later, he presented “E penso a te,” a new single sung entirely in Italian, during his performance at the Roman Theatre of Orange. An album of the same name hit the shelves in November 2020, containing a series of standards from the Italian songbook.
