Red are an American alternative rock band formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 2002 who have had several hit releases on the Billboard charts including the Top Christian Albums Chart. The current line-up includes founder members vocalist and keyboard player Michael Barnes, guitarist Anthony Armstrong and his identical twin brother bassist Randy Armstrong who are joined in concert by drummer Dan Johnson. Former members include guitarist Jasen Rauch and drummers Andrew Hendrix, Joe Rickard and Hayden Lamb.
School friends growing up in Linesville, Pennsylvania, they performed at Christian festivals and moved to Nashville to pursue a professional career. Their 2007 debut release, 'End of Silence', was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Or Rap Gospel Album and went to number seven on the Christian Chart, number 17 on the Alternative Albums Chart and number 194 on the Billboard 200. 'Innocence & Instinct' (2009), which was nominated for the same Grammy, topped the Christian and Alternative charts and went to number six on the Top Rock Albums Chart and number 15 on the 200. The track 'Death of Me' reached number nine on the Mainstream Rock Songs Chart. 'Until We Have Faces' (2011) topped the Alternative, Christian, Top Rock and Hard Rock Albums charts and reached number two on the 200.
'Release the Panic' (2013) topped the Christian and Hard Rock charts and reached number two on the Alternative and Top Rock charts and number seven on the 200. 'Of Beauty and Rage' (2015) topped the Christian and Hard Rock charts and reached number three on the Top Rock Chart, number two on the Alternative Chart and number 14 on the 200. 'Gone' (2017) topped the Christian Chart and peaked at number two on the Hard Rock Chart, number five on the Alternative Chart, seven on the Top Rock Chart and number 38 on the 200.
