Lucero Hogaza León, better known simply as Lucero, is a Mexican singer, actress, and television host. Born on August 29, 1969, in Mexico City, Lucero began her career in the entertainment industry at the young age of 10, appearing in the TV shows Alegrías de Mediodía and Chiquilladas. Te Prometo, her official debut as a singer, was released in 1982. During this time, she landed her first lead role in the soap opera Andrea Celeste and starred alongside Pedro Fernández in the film Coqueta. In 1985, she and a young Luis Miguel featured in the movie Fiebre de Amor, also lending her voice to the film's original soundtrack. Soon enough, Lucero's singing career took off as she became one of the most popular pop singers in Mexico and throughout Latin America thanks to chart-topping albums like Un Pedacito de Mí (1986), Lucerito (1988), and Cuéntame (1989), which contained the US Number 1 singles "Cuéntame" and "Tanto." Con Mi Sentimiento, her first album of rancheras, saw the light in 1990 and met with great success, cracking the Top 10 of the US Regional Mexican chart. She would return to her pop roots on 1991's Sólo Pienso en Ti, which topped the local charts and yielded the Number 1 single "Electricidad." In the following years, Lucero consolidated her fame through a series of lead roles in the telenovelas Lazos de Amor (1995) and Mi Destino Eres Tú (2000) while simultaneously topping the Mexican charts time and time again with releases such as Cerca de Ti (1998), Mi Destino (2000), Cuando Sale un Lucero (2004), and Quiéreme Tal Como Soy (2009), with the last two receiving gold certification by AMPROFON. In 2010, she celebrated her 30th anniversary in show business with the album Indispensable. Subsequent releases such as the Joan Sebastian joint LP Un Lu*Jo (2012) or the banda sinaloense album Enamorada con Banda (2017), as well as its sequels Más Enamorada con Banda (2018) and Sólo Me Faltabas Tú (2019), cemented her status as one of the most beloved artists in Mexican pop music.
