Rèfles, the main character, lives in the World of Archetypes and embeds repressed emotions. Its body is a mass of black plasma. Due to the schizophrenic lifestyle of society in the last decades, Reflès’ body has grown so fast that it's sentenced to prison for excess of power. Therefore, it decides to escape in order to give back emotions to humans and restore balance.
Through a thunder that strikes Spiro, a lonely fisherman, Rèfles takes over his body. Then he meets a group of hikers and convinces them to bring him to Vemetown, a nearby city. The new Spiro struggles to integrate into society and accomplish his mission. He should have injected a part of black plasma into people’s bodies during sleep, for at least 500 million times times per year, thus causing the appearance of black stripes on the body surface during the idle moments. The black plasma gives them also free access to Planet Vena, a parallel dimension. But after three years, and 2000 injections only, the shame sized Spiro so badly that he leaves the city and isolates himself in the Arctic.
But a fragment of Rèfles had been kept separated from Spiro in order to kill him in case of failure. Once the execution happens, a black cloud surrounds the whole world.
