Dutch-based pianist/composer Kjøpmann was introduced to intimate piano-playing at a young age. In order to play at inconvenient hours, he had to approach the piano with a light touch. His first neo-classical compositions were born during these moments. He went on to receive classical training, in which he learned to play with speed, efficiency, and increasingly harmonically dense chords - but he always found himself returning to contemplative, intimate and peaceful compositions when he wanted to be alone with his thoughts.
