Yasmin Pigeon was born in November 97 in Paris, France. Child of the creators and resident DJ of a trendy 90s Franco-Brazilian night club, Yasmin was brought up, encouraged to live and breathe music. Brazilian from her mother and French from her father she moved to London where she spent her teenage years. She brought back from there the language, musical influences and also a British phlegm that made her start writing songs from her deep-down self.
Few years later she finally recorded her first EP that she has entirely written and composed. In her songs, Yasmin brings her ghosts and darkness to light. "Possessive", her first single released in January 2022, is about the fear of loving someone because of the fear of being abandoned.
If the exercise is of the order of the sensitive and the intimate, it is not for all disconnected from an aesthetic and largely influenced desire. Her definitely alternative music finds its inspiration in Björk, Elis Regina or Frank Ocean, and gives birth to a trip hop very marked by jazz and soul. As for the visual universes, between Tim Burton's gothic-burlesque cinema or Grimes' dystopian retro-futurism, Yasmin Pigeon opts for a dreamlike visual atmosphere, heavy with meaning and signs...
