Michiel Borstlap is a Dutch pianist, composer and producer. He has built an international reputation as a virtuoso jazzpianist but since 2010 focusses on classical and contemporary influences. He received many awards, including 'Best Soloist' at the Europe Jazz Competition, the prestigious Thelonious Monk Composers Award (as the first non-American), a Golden Calf and an Edison Award. His album "Velvet" also received a nomination for the Edison Audience Award 2017. Borstlap has also done many collaborations with world artists such as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Gino Vannelli, Ludovico Einaudi, the Scapino Ballet and lately with Joris Voorn. Borstlap has performed at all continents.
