Robyn Schulkowsky, born in 1953 in Eureka, South Dakota, is an American percussionist and composer. She studied at the University of Iowa and the University of New Mexico, serving as a principal percussionist with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra from 1977 to 1980. Schulkowsky moved to Europe in 1980 for further studies under Christoph Caskel in Cologne. Her career began with performances in premieres of works by Karlheinz Stockhausen, Mauricio Kagel, and Walter Zimmermann in the early 1980s. She collaborated extensively with composers such as John Cage, Morton Feldman, Iannis Xenakis, Christian Wolff, and Heinz Holliger, touring globally. Schulkowsky also gained recognition for her improvisational skills, working with artists like Lindsay Cooper, Derek Bailey, and Nils Petter Molvær.
