Johnny Liebling, a German alternative rock band from Hamburg, was formed in 2003 by producer duo Martin Fekl and Kim Kiesling. The band's name was derived from the character Johnny Favorite from the film Angel Heart. Known for their evolving sound from jazz-influenced "dope jazz" to a more rock-oriented style with psychedelic and Krautrock elements, Johnny Liebling's music often featured film noir-inspired lyrics. The band initially started as a session project with singer Chris Kiel, who had previously collaborated with Fekl and Kiesling in the Soul-Rock band Lovekrauts, along with Ralph Beulshausen and Rüdiger Hensel. Johnny Liebling gained popularity playing regularly in Hamburg's scene bars. Their breakthrough came when Universal Music offered them a record deal. The band released Goldene Zeiten (2005) and Nur nicht nach Haus (2007). After a hiatus, the band reformed in 2013 with Miriam Büscher joining on drums.
