Music from the Sole is a NYC-based tap dance company and live music ensemble that merges Afro-Brazilian rhythms and music with the great American tap tradition. The unique challenge in releasing the company’s debut self-titled album has been in translating what was created as a live band and tap dance show, into an audio-only experience. Blending all of the jazz, hip hop, and psychedelic roots of composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist Gregory Richardson with the afro-Brazilian background of choreographer and tap dancer Leonardo Sandoval, the band includes drummer Josh Davis, pianist and keyboardists Noé Kains, Cuban saxophonist José Cruzata Revé, and bassist Jennifer Vincent.
