Ketan Bhatti is a Berlin-based composer and producer whose music moves between chamber works, (music-)theatre, hip-hop and electronic sounds. His pieces often bring different traditions and genres into dialogue, creating spaces where new perspectives can emerge.
Together with his brother Vivan, he has written music for theatre productions and collaborative projects with authors such as Feridun Zaimoglu and Roland Schimmelpfennig. His works have been performed by ensembles including Ensemble Resonanz and Ensemble Adapter, and presented at festivals like Wien Modern, Jazzfest Berlin and Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik.
In 2013, he co-founded the Trickster Orchestra with Cymin Samawatie, a collective exploring “trans-traditional” sound worlds. The ensemble has since been recognized with the German Jazz Prize and the TONALi Classical Music Award. Recordings of his work have been released on ECM and Sony Classical, including the orchestral debut Flying Pictures at an Exhibition.
Recent projects include the opera Berlin Alexanderplatz at Theater Bielefeld, „Der Rote Wal“ at Staatsoper Stuttgart and a new commission for Beethovenfest Bonn, where he is writing a music theatre piece inspired by the Odyssey.
