Balafenn is family band composed of parents and children. The band plays pop rock music. At first, single jams at home, it turns into a full album project. Recorded in the « studio Bad Plafond » (Brittany, France), "Album Ier" (2023) is a 12 original tracks production. The childish but already affirmed voice and the use of backing vocals give a specific tone to the recording. Lyrics are mainly in french but also sometimes in english and breton because of family roots. Guitar and keyboards carry melodies in turn, supported with drums. Balafenn embraces its Rennes identity: its repertoire is mainly composed in French but the group does not hesitate to write texts in Breton (Na sav ket, Maligorn, Trankilig pe ket), a nod to local culture, or even in English if the inspiration lends itself to it (In my blood, Radio songs). The British pop and indie rock influences are a marker of the album. Ewen's keyboard combines with Paul's guitar to offer catchy melodies, punctuated by Julie on the drums. Some of these titles might stick with you for a while!
