Between beats and notes, Madd Rod embodies the curiosity brewing within Rodrigo Pinheiro. Originally from Lisbon, he is a DJ, producer, and commander of Inner Shah Recordings, defying the frontiers between electronic music genres through a simultaneously nostalgic and avant-garde approach.
Producing from a young age, he navigated through the industry, closing the first chapter of his career with his first studio album, Dystopian Desert (2020), which unlocked fresh collaborations and remixes. The following year, he joined the roster of Discotexas, finding a musical shelter within borders.
Living in Berlin since 2022, he [re]discovered his identity through a retrofuturistic sound that culminated in his second studio album, Sad Behaviour (2023)—a robust, punk, and intimate dive into the past with eyes on the future, that got extended via Sad Behaviour: Expanded Edition (2024).
Among other highlights are his Tropicalismo Dark collaboration with Noporn (Inner Shah), After The World Collapsed (NEIN Records), Mind Invasion EP (Volition), and Jumping Jacks (Get Physical), as well as official remixes for Xinobi, Night in Athens, BURAK SIS, Jup do Bairro, Dole & Kom, Ohxala among others.
Whether in the studio or at the clubs, Madd Rod weaves influences from Electroclash, EBM, and the raw energy of Proto-House and Italo Disco. Retro, raw, and relentless, his sound sets the pulse for the next movement.
