Giant Steps was a British pop duo from England, consisting of vocalist/producer Colin Campsie and bassist/keyboardist/producer George McFarlane. They previously recorded as The Quick before forming Giant Steps in 1988. The group released their debut album The Book of Pride the same year under A&M Records, featuring collaborations with Gardner Cole on keyboards and vocals, Edie Lehmann on backgrounds, Bruce Gaitsch on guitars, and David Boruff on saxophone. Their breakthrough came with the single "Another Lover", which peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and gained significant airplay in Italy. The song was also featured over the opening credits of the 1989 film Loverboy. Following this success, Giant Steps released another single, "Into You", which reached number 58 on the US charts in early 1989. Despite their initial popularity, the band disbanded in 1990. In addition to their musical contributions, Campsie and McFarlane were also involved in the production process. In 2011, a posthumous single "Tolerate" was released by Giant Steps. The band's impact extended beyond their active years, with Campsie later gaining notoriety for writing the Kandy Floss record. There was a brief controversy in 2006 when Campsie was mistakenly credited as being a member of Go West by Mr. Holy Moly in Metro's February edition.
