As a founding member of iconic supergroup Black Eyed Peas, apl.de.ap has carved his legacy across the global stage, holding nine GRAMMY Awards, eight American Music Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, four Billboard Latin Awards, one MOBO Award and countless more. Critically acclaimed, performing to crowds in their millions across a career that, to date, spans two and a half decades, apl.de.ap is the consummate performer, revered band member, and one of the most inspirational figures for the exploding South East Asian hip hop scene.
As Black Eyed Peas, alongside will.i.am and Taboo, apl.de.ap’s discography is littered with chart-topping singles and multi-platinum releases. Nine studio albums spawned 40 singles – anthems like Where Is The Love, Let’s Get It Started, Shut Up, I Gotta Feeling, Boom Boom Pow, and Hey Mama, all dominating global airwaves. An eight year hiatus ended with the 2020 album TRANSLATION and 2022 follow-up ELEVATION. Both tapped into the vast Latin music market, apl.de.ap collaborating with the likes of Shakira, Daddy Yankee, J Balvin, Lele Pons, Nicky Jam, Maluma and Ozuna to bring in some of the band’s biggest streaming figures yet.
As one of the original judges on The Voice Philippines, it was also apl.de.ap who discovered the singer J. Rey Soul, who replaced Fergie as vocalist for Black Eyed Peas. This innate ability to spot talent has seen him unearth incredible artists from across the South East Asian diaspora, something future projects will allow him to lean into with much more focus and intent.
Outside of music, apl.de.ap uses his considerable profile and influence to make waves in other areas, including – and surprisingly for many – agriculture and sustainability. Never forgetting his Filipino farming roots but always at the cutting edge of technology and culture, apl.de.ap is behind the major new green energy movement BioChar™. Founded in 2011, his apl.de.ap Foundation, International (APLFI) focuses on youth education, providing BIPOC youth around the world with greater opportunity, resources, and access to the latest in education, arts, and innovation.
