New single 'Zenith' and music video out now!
Zenith marks the eighth of 12 contemporary classical and experimental electronica tracks from the forthcoming album, Rarefactions, by visual artist, composer and producer, Damian Boylan.
Chronicling a time-centric story of the Universe, the album charts the macrocosm from its formation, expansion and contraction, through to its proposed destiny, in which ends become beginnings, and all matter repeats in the self-same way, for eternity.
Part visceral, part cerebral experience, the album draws inspiration from a host of minimalist artists, from composers John Cage and Jon Hopkins through to visual artists Richard Serra and Pierre Soulages.
Mastered by Matt Colton (Brian Eno, Four Tet, Thom Yorke, Aphex Twin, Flume), and conducted with live strings from AIR Studios, London (Hans Zimmer, Ólafur Arnalds), Rarefaction’s rich orchestral textures juxtapose electronic rubato, conjuring notions of cosmic solemnity. Layered in painstaking detail, the album’s evocative leitmotif is reminiscent of a film score, orchestrated for these vast timescales.
‘Rarefactions’ artworks come from Boylan’s own body of paintings, created through his long-spanning, multidisciplinary studio practice. 12 paintings serve as a contemplative companion to the album’s 12 songs, which explore similarly temporal concepts, within a visual realm.
Rarefactions arrives in 2025, on 2 x 12” Limited Edition vinyl LP record and digital formats through London based, art-record label, Arrow of Time.
