Singer-songwriter, Manny Martinez, formerly of the salsa group Azabache, brings street salsa to the masses, with the creative essence and musical energy that has characterized him through the years. Born José Manuel Martínez Curét, Manny was raised between the streets of Washington Heights, NYC and Arroyo, Puerto Rico.
His years in Puerto Rico solidified his persona as a salsa singer and as a sonero, being strongly influenced by the music of Willie Colón with Héctor Lavoe, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico and Cortijo with Ismael Rivera, as well as by rock, funk, folk, soul, slow jams, hip-hop, club music and pop.
