Louise Pitre, born on January 1, 1957, in Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario, Canada, is a singer and actress known for her work in musical theatre. She began playing the piano at age seven and later graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a bachelor's degree in music education. Her career in musical theatre started after performing in a college musical. Pitre gained acclaim for her role as Fantine in Les Misérables and was known for portraying Edith Piaf in three productions of Piaf. Her breakthrough moment came with the role of Donna Sheridan in the ABBA-themed musical Mamma Mia!, which earned her a 2002 Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical. Pitre's notable albums included Shattered (2004) and La vie en rouge (2011).
