Nibya Mariño Bellini, born on March 23, 1920, in Montevideo, Uruguay, was a classical pianist. She began her musical training under Guillermo Kolischer and debuted at age six performing Concerto in A minor Op. 54 by Robert Schumann at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. Mariño continued her studies in Paris and later with Claudio Arrau in the United States. She performed extensively across Europe, Latin America, and the United States. She recorded three albums, including works by Schumann and the Concerto for Two Pianos by Francis Poulenc alongside Enrique Graf. In 1994, she received a prize from the OEA for her contributions to the artistic community of the Americas. Mariño was honored with the Premio Candelabro de Oro in 2001 and passed away on September 1, 2014.
