Spektakel was a progressive rock band from Oldenburg, Germany. Formed in 1969, the group initially consisted of Detlef Wiedeke on guitar, Werner Protzner on bass, and Eduard Schicke on drums. Shortly after their formation, Heinz Fröhling joined as a guitarist, prompting Wiedeke to switch to keyboards. Spektakel gained local recognition through live performances and recorded an album in 1974 that remained unreleased until 1996. The band's music was characterized by lengthy compositions, often exceeding 20 minutes, featuring extended instrumental sections and improvisations. Their sole album, Spektakel, showcased their intricate style and was released posthumously by Laser's Edge in 1996. Spektakel disbanded in 1974, with members Eduard Schicke and Heinz Fröhling subsequently forming the band Schicke Führs Fröhling.
