Jess McAvoy, born January 11, 1980 in Perth, Western Australia, is a musician-songwriter and actor. At eleven, Jess McAvoy started playing guitar and writing music, establishing their own record label, Henduwin Music, by 14. In 1996, they won first prize at the Battle of the Bands competition in Fremantle. McAvoy's career gained traction performing in Melbourne pubs and receiving national radio airplay. In 2004, they released their album En Masse. Two years later, Into the Dark was declared Album of the Week by Beat Magazine. In 2008, Jess McAvoy released As the Sun Falls, featuring the popular single "The Sailor." They relocated to North America in 2011 and performed a farewell show in Melbourne. Based in Brooklyn since then, Jess McAvoy continues to write, perform, and collaborate.
