Iron On was an Australian indie rock band from Brisbane, Queensland, formed in 2002 after members Kate Cooper and Ross Hope met at university. The band's name was inspired by a Superchunk song. After three years, original drummer Nicola Phoenix was replaced by Marieca Page. Iron On released their debut EP The Understudy in 2003, followed by another EP Everybody Calm Down in 2004 and their first full-length album Oh the Romance in 2005. The band recorded Oh the Romance at a renovated church studio in Applewood, Ipswich, with ARIA award-winning producer Magoo. Iron On toured extensively across Australia and internationally, performing alongside notable artists such as Sleater-Kinney, Ben Kweller, and Tegan and Sara. In 2006, they were nominated for Favourite New International Artist/Group by Canadian Music Week. The band disbanded in 2009.
