Aleksandrs Kublinskis, born on September 11, 1936, in Latvia, was a composer. After studying piano at the Emīls Dārziņš Music Secondary School and at the Latvian State Conservatory, Kublinskis performed with the Smolensk Philharmonic Artists' Group in Russia and the Baltic War District Song and Dance Ensemble during his military service. His career began with the release of the EP Estrādes dziesmas in 1969. Throughout his prolific career, Aleksandrs Kublinskis collaborated with notable artists and groups such as Eolika from Latvia, Moscow's Akkord, Larisa Mondrus, and Muslim Magomayev. He is best known for composing "Noktirne", a song dedicated to Riga, along with over 200 other compositions. His notable albums include Jola. Estrādes dziesmas in 1982 and Mēs Tikāmies in 1994. In 2003, Kublinskis received the Latvian Music Recording of the Year Award for his contribution to the development of Latvian music. Kublinskis passed away on January 24, 2018.
