42 Buttons were born in 2015 thanks to the musical and personal chemistry between artists from different bands but with a shared understanding of what music should be, free of binding, stylistic, or formal dependences. In its early years, the band gained an impressive list of achievements: winner of the Fender Club Band Contest, second place in the Emergenza Festival, and finalist in the EDP Madrid Marathon Contest.
These credentials led the band to perform on first-class stages: Cultura Inquieta Festival or Alcalá Suena Festival, to name just a few, sharing their good vibes with great names of the Spanish music scene such as Fundación Tony Manero, Aurora & The Betrayers, Seguridad Social, or Red House.
The band released its first EP in 2017, collecting some of their greatest songs performed live. After that, Change The World, a studio recording single, was published. This blunt but emotive work allowed the band to open up to a new audience and broader their musical boundaries along Spain.
But then, the COVID-19 pandemic arrived while the band was working on new material, and 42 Buttons, as many others, felt this blow below the belt. Far from giving up, the band took advantage of this circumstance to rethink their music and purpose. With these new insights, they shaped new songs and returned to the studio to be ready for a thriving return into the music panorama. Today, the band is fully immersed in finalizing all the new material that will be released in the coming months and working on a new show to return to the stage more powerful than ever.
Regarding their live performance, the digital media La Ganzúa highlighted their “complete and energetic performance that convinced the crowd with a curious mix of funk, jazz passages, ska, and old school rock blended with some 70’s soundtracks aroma”. These are 42 Buttons declared intentions: “Energy and a good capacity to find the balance between musical virtuosity and entertainment.”
