Cofield Mundi, born in Johannesburg, South Africa, is a singer and songwriter who began performing at a young age and wrote her first song at the age of 12. She started her musical career as the lead singer for The Aeroplanes, an underground band from South Africa. In 2003, she released her debut album Ceremony, which was nominated for Best Pop Album at the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) in 2004. Her second album, The Big Question, was released through Sony BMG in 2008 and re-released by Universal Music Group in 2009, earning a nomination for Best Adult Contemporary Album at the SAMAs in 2009. Mundi has collaborated with notable artists such as Russell Dickerson and Wayne Carson. She also performed at the Nelson Mandela 46664 concert in George in 2005 alongside Will Smith, Annie Lennox, and Queen with Paul Rodgers.
