林宇中, also known as Rynn Lim Yu Zhong, is a Malaysian actor and Mandopop vocalist who launched his entertainment career with 2005's award-winning 个人首张专辑. He was born on December 29, 1978, in Kuching, Sarawak, and began writing songs while enrolled at the University of Malaysia. After graduating with a degree in microbiology, 林宇中 started composing music for singers like Adu, Jordan Chan, Z Chen, and Angela Zhang. He released his debut collection of solo material, 个人首张专辑, in 2005, and scored a hit with the album's lead single, "靠岸." One year later, he won "Best Newcomer" at the Golden Melody Awards (the Chinese-speaking world's equivalent of the Grammy Awards) and four additional titles at the Malaysian Entertainment Association Awards. He launched his acting career in 2006, as well, starring in the Mandarin Chinese TV program The Beginning and singing the show's theme song, "空秋千." He maintained parallel careers as an actor and singer for years, releasing the studio albums 淋雨中 in 2007, 干物世界 in 2008, 新娘 in 2010, and 捨得 in 2013. 林宇中 remained active in his songwriting for other artists, too, with highlights including Ming Dao's "偶爾還會難過," Mad August's "再一次分手," and Frances & Aiko's "麻吉寶貝."
