Spacifix, a funk, soul, R&B, and reggae boy group from West Auckland, New Zealand, formed in April 2003 with members aged between 13 and 18 years. They gained initial recognition by winning the Smokefree Pacifica Beats national competition. In March 2006, Spacifix signed a management agreement with Ocean Entertainment Ltd. Their first major project was writing and recording "Spread da Word" for the 40-hour Famine soundtrack. They supported UB40 in a Tongan concert on 8 March 2006, performing to a crowd of over 10,000 people. Spacifix released their debut album Much Love in October 2006 under Worldfresh Records and had notable singles including "Sunshine Day" (2006) and "Old Skool" (2007). The band moved to Brisbane, Australia, in 2009.
