Dr. West's Medicine Show and Junk Band was an American psychedelic rock band based in Los Angeles, formed with Norman Greenbaum on vocals, Bonnie Zee Wallach on guitar and vocals, Jack Carrington on guitar, vocals, and percussion, and Evan Engber on percussion. The band gained initial recognition with the release of their debut single "Gondoliers, Shakespeares, Overseers, Playboys and Bums" in 1967. Their breakthrough came later that year with the release of "The Eggplant That Ate Chicago", which peaked at Number 52 on the Billboard Hot 100. Dr. West's Medicine Show and Junk Band released their debut album The Eggplant That Ate Chicago in April 1967, featuring a compilation of their singles and previously unreleased tracks. The band continued to release notable songs such as "You Can Fly" and "Jigsaw". In 1969, Norman Greenbaum released a compilation titled Norman Greenbaum with Dr. West's Medicine Show and Junk Band. In 1998, another compilation titled Euphoria: The Best of Dr. West's Medicine Show and Junk Band was released, which included all the singles tracks from their debut album and eight previously unreleased tracks.
