The Dearhunters were an Australian indie and alternative country band from Sydney, formed in 1998 and consisted of Greg Hitchcock on guitars, Tim Oxley on vocals and bass, Jodi Phillis on vocals and guitar, and Raphael Whittingham on drums. Initially performing under the name Lunar Tunes, they released their debut album Red Wine and Blue in 1999 through Candle Records. The album featured dual vocals between Oxley and Phillis and received favorable reviews. Following the release of a split EP with Hired Guns, Whittingham left the group and was replaced by Dave Ashton. After a brief tour, The Dearhunters disbanded in 2000, with members returning to their prior musical projects or engaging in new ones.
