Happyland is an Australian punk rock duo formed in Brisbane, Queensland in 1997 as a side project by Janet English on bass guitar and lead vocals and Quan Yeomans on lead guitar and vocals. Both were prominent members of other bands: English from Spiderbait and Yeomans from Regurgitator. Initially named The Shits, the duo renamed themselves Happyland. Their debut album Welcome To... was released on August 25, 1998 via Polydor Australia, reaching number 18 on the ARIA Albums Chart. It featured the single "Don't You Know Who I Am?", which peaked at number 24 on the ARIA Singles Chart and was listed at number 28 in Triple J's 1998 Hottest 100 music poll. Happyland won Best Cover Art for Regurgitator’s Unit album at the ARIA Music Awards of 1998 and were nominated again in 1999 for their own album Welcome To Happyland The duo toured Australia as part of the 1999 Big Day Out music festival, performing at major cities including Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. They also contributed a cover of "Tintarella di luna" to the soundtrack of the feature film Looking for Alibrandi in 2000. Happyland disbanded in 1999, with both members returning to their respective main projects.
