We Versus the Shark was an American math rock band from Athens, Georgia. Formed in March 2003 by multi-instrumentalists Luke Douglas Fields, Jeffrey Daniel Tobias, Scott Philip Smith, and Samantha Erin Paulsen, the group was known for dynamic live performances where each member switched instruments and contributed vocals. The band also released a split EP with Cinemechanica and Maserati in 2004. Their debut full-length album, Ruin Everything!, was released on Hello Sir in January 2005. They followed this with the EP EP of Bees in 2007. In November 2008, the band released Dirty Versions. Later that year, they put out Murmurmur, a collection of cover songs released on Quote Unquote Records. After a period of inactivity, We Versus the Shark announced their return in March 2020 with the single "Righteous Vibes" and subsequently released the album Goodbye Guitar on Ernest Jenning Record Co.
