Wyolica, a Japanese two-piece folk-pop/chillout group consisting of Azumi (vocals) and So-To (guitar), formed in 1997 when So-To met Azumi at a Sony audition. The band's name is a neologism defined as "people of the grass fields." Wyolica debuted with their first single "Kanashii Wagamama" on May 21, 1999, produced by Shinichi Osawa. Their debut album Who Said "La La..."? was released in February 2000, followed by Almost Blues in December 2001 and Folky Soul in December 2002. In November 2003, they released their fourth studio album Fruits & Roots. Azumi left Wyolica in 2003 to get married and moved to the United States, returning as a solo artist in 2005 with three singles: "Kick Up Kiss", "Snowflake" and "Fly". So-To continued producing for artists such as Kou Shibasaki and Kousuke Atari. The duo resumed activities in 2007 with acoustic live shows and released Balcony in February 2009, followed by a digital-only single "Boku wa Wasurenai" on HearJapan. In June 2009, they celebrated their ten-year anniversary with live dates in Osaka and Tokyo. Wyolica's final album, Castle of Wind, was released in September 2010. The group disbanded in 2013.
