Segression, an Australian metal band from Wollongong, New South Wales, was formed in 1990 under the name Eezee. The group initially released their first album Rise from Darkness in 1995 and changed their name to Segression in 1996. Their debut album under the new name, L.I.A., was released that same year. In early 2000, Segression released Smile, which became one of the highest-selling metal albums in Australia despite a strained relationship with Roadrunner Records. The band toured extensively behind this album and won awards for Best Live Band, Best Guitarist, and Best Vocalist. After moving to Chicago in 2001, they recorded their fourth album Segression in June 2002. Following a hiatus in late 2003, Segression disbanded. In mid-2009, the band reformed and released the albums Never Dead (April 21, 2011) and Painted in Blood (October 10, 2014).
