Latyrx is an American alternative hip-hop duo consisting of Lateef the Truthspeaker and Lyrics Born formed in Davis, California. Emerging from the Solesides collective at the University of California, Davis, Lyrics Born released his first solo single, “Send Them” (1993), on the Solesides label. The duo debuted under their collective name in 1996 with the track “Latyrx” (1996), which utilized a vocal layering method. They released their debut studio album, The Album (1997), which included production contributions from DJ Shadow. That same year, they issued the EP The Muzappers Mixes (1997), featuring the single “Lady Don't Tek No” (1997). The ensemble appeared on the single “8 Point Agenda” (1999) and contributed material to the compilation Quannum Spectrum (1999). After a hiatus, they released the live recording Latyrx: Live at Google (2012) and the studio recording The Second Album (2013).
