Ab Ex is the solo, electronic musical project of Jason Hensel, a musician based in Dallas, Texas.
Hensel also records solo, bedroom-pop songs under his own name, as well as indie-rock songs with his band, Ashburne Glen. Recording as Ab Ex lets him explore and create the kind of industrial dance, darkwave, and techno music that he's enjoyed and been inspired by during his musical career.
Since 2021, Hensel has released one E.P. ("Of the Great Young") and five, full-length albums ("Lost When Waking," "The Sky Face Up," "Nighttime Occupation," "Pretend an Interest," and "Between Decades") under the Ab Ex name.
Reviews describe Ab Ex as "old-school minimal techno, dark synthwave and experimental indie" music. It's also been described as "very unusual music ... worth trying out at a techno party in some underground club."
