María Cecilia Echenique Celis, known as Cecilia Echenique, was born on October 28, 1957, in Santiago, Chile. She is a Chilean singer and songwriter who began her career in the early 1980s as part of the children's music group Mazapán. In 1986, she returned to Chile from the United States and participated in various concerts, including those with Eduardo Gatti. Her debut solo album, Tiempo fecundo, was released in 1987, followed by En silencio in 1989. Echenique's career is marked by her versatility, spanning genres from religious music to Brazilian classics. Notable albums include El amor existe aún (1995), which featured the song "Como voy a renunciar a ti," and Secreta intimidad (2001). She has received several awards, including the Premio Altazor for Secreta intimidad in 2002. Echenique was also recognized with the Knight of the Order of Rio Branco in Brazil in 2002 for her contributions to Brazilian culture.
