Age of Silence is a Norwegian progressive metal band formed in 2004 by Andy Winter, Lars Eikind, and Hellhammer after their previous collaborations with Winds. They were joined by Lars "Lazare" Nedland on vocals, Joacim "Extant" Solheim and Helge "Kobbergaard" Haugen on guitars. In 2004, Age of Silence released their debut album Acceleration, which garnered critical acclaim. The following year, they released the EP Complications - Trilogy of Intricacy. Both releases were well-received by the press and highlighted the band's progressive metal sound. In subsequent years, the band underwent lineup changes, with new members including BP M. Kirkevaag, Kris Norris, and Mike Young.
