Antônio Marcos Pensamento da Silva, born November 8, 1945 in São Paulo, Brazil, was a Brazilian singer, composer, and actor. He began his career participating in radio and television talent shows and recorded with RCA Victor as a member of the group Os Iguais before establishing himself as a solo artist. His first hit song, “Tenho Um Amor Melhor Que O Seu”, composed by Roberto Carlos, appeared on his self-titled debut album, Antônio Marcos (1969). His greatest success came with the 1973 song “O Homem De Nazaré”, which was released in Spanish as “Hombre de Nazaré” the following year. Alongside his brother Mário Marcos, he co-wrote the song “Como Vai Você”, which was first recorded by Roberto Carlos in 1972 before Antônio Marcos recorded his own version on his self-titled 1973 album. His career declined during the 1980s as he struggled with alcoholism and drug addiction. In 1991, his attempt to release a cover version of John Lennon's song “Imagine” was vetoed by Yoko Ono. He died April 5, 1992 of liver failure in São Paulo.
