The Truffauts, an indie rock band from Nuremberg, Germany, formed in 1986 and were named after French filmmaker François Truffaut. The band adopted French stage names for its members. Their early releases included "In Your Sleep/Between The Lines" (1987). The debut album, ... Fanny!, was released in 1987. In 1988, they achieved chart success with their second album, Billy-Ze-Kick, which reached number 17 on the Indie-Charts of Spex magazine. The band received a stipend from the city of Nuremberg in 1991 and continued to release albums such as Almost Classical Stories (1992) and Catholics & Coffeebreaks (1994). Internal conflicts led to a hiatus from 1995 to 2001. The Truffauts resumed their career in 2008 with the release of several albums, including To Your Heart. In 2020, they returned as a trio with Drummer Monsieur Accèle.
