The Brilliant Things are an Irish synthpop and electronic rock band formed in 2008 and based between Dublin and London. The group consists of lead vocalist Marie Junior and Greg French, who serves as the songwriter, guitarist, and keyboardist. Both members possessed significant industry experience prior to the band's formation as French worked as a songwriter, producer, and engineer in international studios with artists including The Corrs, Van Morrison, Mutt Lange, and Brian Eno. Junior previously embarked on a solo career under the name “Sweet T”, achieving an Irish Chart Top 40 placing with her version of the song “I Love a Millionaire”. The band released its self-titled debut album, The Brilliant Things, in Ireland on October 7, 2011. Their first UK release, the single “Dance”, was A-listed on BBC Radio 2 and reached number 36 on the UK Airplay charts in January 2012. This success was followed by the release of the single “Pointless”, which earned a B-list spot on the same station. Their subsequent release, “Feels Like Summer”, was A-listed for four weeks and reached number 28 on the UK charts.
