Fobia is a Mexican rock band formed in 1987 in Mexico City by Paco Huidobro and Leonardo de Lozanne, emerging during a time when rock music in Spanish was gaining ground in Latin America. Their self-titled debut album, Fobia (1990), introduced their signature blend of new wave, alternative rock, and surreal lyrics, with songs like "El Microbito" becoming cult classics. The band gained further popularity with Mundo Feliz (1991), featuring hits like "Camila" and "El Diablo," followed by Leche (1993), which showcased a more experimental and raw sound. In 1995, they released Amor Chiquito, which produced some of their most recognizable tracks, including "Veneno Vil" and "Hipnotízame," solidifying their status in Latin rock. After a hiatus, Fobia reunited in 2003 and released Rosa Venus (2005), followed by Destruye Hogares (2012), demonstrating their continued evolution. Celebrating their three-decade career, they embarked on the Pastel tour in 2018, later recording Fobia MTV Unplugged (2020), which reimagined their classics in an intimate setting.
